Deepen Your Understanding of Zakat During the Blessed Month
Ramadan is the month of the Quran. It is the month of fasting. It is also the month of giving. Many Muslims choose to pay their zakat during Ramadan because the reward for good deeds is multiplied. Yet many of us do not fully understand zakat. We know we have to pay it. We want to pay it. But we are not sure how to calculate it correctly. We are not sure which assets are included. We are not sure whether we have reached the nisab threshold.
Our Ramadan Intensive Course is designed to change this. Over five sessions during the blessed month, we teach you everything you need to know about zakat. You will learn the basic rules. You will learn how to calculate zakat on cash, gold, stocks, pensions, and business inventory. You will learn about the nisab and how to check it. You will learn about zakat al fitr which is due at the end of Ramadan. You will learn the difference between zakat and sadaqah. You will learn how to maximize your charitable impact during Ramadan.
Each session lasts 90 minutes. Sessions are held in the evening before iftar or after taraweeh prayer to fit around your Ramadan schedule. You can join live via video call or watch the recordings later. The course is suitable for beginners and for those who want a refresher.
You will receive a zakat workbook with calculation examples and templates. You will receive downloadable slides for each session. You will have the opportunity to ask questions live. And you will receive a certificate of completion at the end.
Do not let another Ramadan pass without understanding your zakat obligation. Join us this Ramadan and gain knowledge that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
What's Included
Five Live Sessions
The course includes five live sessions of 90 minutes each. Session one covers the basics of zakat: who is obligated, what is the nisab, how is the lunar year calculated, and what are the eight categories of recipients. Session two covers zakat on cash, bank accounts, and gold and silver. Session three covers zakat on stocks, shares, and retirement accounts. Session four covers zakat on business inventory, rental properties, and cryptocurrency. Session five covers zakat al fitr, maximizing charitable impact, and answering common questions. Each session is taught by a qualified Islamic finance instructor. Sessions are recorded if you cannot attend live.
Zakat Workbook
You receive a comprehensive zakat workbook in PDF format. The workbook is about 50 pages. It includes summaries of each session so you can review key points. It includes calculation examples for each asset type. It includes blank templates where you can fill in your own numbers. It includes a nisab tracking sheet. It includes a zakat al fitr calculator. You can print the workbook and write in it. You can keep it on your computer and fill it in digitally. The workbook is yours to keep forever. You can use it every year to calculate your zakat.
Downloadable Slides
After each session we provide the presentation slides as a PDF. You can download them to your computer or tablet. You can print them if you like to take handwritten notes. The slides include all the key points, diagrams, and calculation examples shown during the session. You can refer back to them whenever you need a refresher. Even after Ramadan is over, you have the slides.
Live Q&A
Each session includes 15 to 20 minutes of live Q&A. You can ask questions about the material covered in that session. You can also ask about your specific situation. For example you can ask how to calculate zakat on your particular stock portfolio or your gold jewelry. The instructor answers as many questions as time allows. If your question is too complex to answer in the session, the instructor will follow up with you personally after the session.
Recording Access
If you cannot attend a live session, you get access to the recording within 24 hours. The recording is available until the end of the next Ramadan. That means you have a full year to watch and rewatch the sessions. You can watch them during Ramadan next year to refresh your memory. The recording includes the full presentation and the Q&A. It does not expire until the next Ramadan.
Certificate of Completion
After you complete all five sessions either live or by recording you receive a certificate of completion. The certificate includes your name, the course name, the date, and the number of hours which is 7.5 hours. You can use this certificate for your personal records. You can also use it for continuing professional development if your profession requires CPD credits. The certificate is provided as a PDF that you can print or share digitally.

Frequently Asked Questions
No prior knowledge is required. The course is designed for beginners. We start from the very basics. Session one explains what zakat is, who is obligated to pay it, and what the nisab threshold means. We assume you know nothing. We build up from there. Even if you have paid zakat for many years, you may still benefit from the course because we cover advanced topics like zakat on stocks, pensions, and cryptocurrency. But if you are a complete beginner, you are welcome and you will not feel lost.
That is completely fine. We know that Ramadan is a busy month. You may be tired from fasting. You may have family obligations. You may be at the masjid for taraweeh. You can watch the recording of any session you miss. The recording is posted within 24 hours. You have until the next Ramadan to watch it. That means you can catch up after Ramadan if you prefer. You do not need to watch the sessions in order. You can watch session three before session two. Whatever works for you. You will still receive your certificate as long as you watch all five recordings.
Yes absolutely. The Q&A portion of each session is for your specific questions. For example you can ask how to calculate zakat on a stock portfolio with 20 different holdings. You can ask how to value gold jewelry that you have had for years. You can ask about zakat on cryptocurrency. You can ask about zakat on a rental property. The instructor will answer as many questions as time allows. If your question is too complex to answer in the session, the instructor will follow up with you personally after the session via email. There is no additional charge for this follow up. We want you to leave the course confident that you can calculate your own zakat correctly.
Both. Individual zakat is covered in sessions two and three. We cover zakat on cash, bank accounts, gold, silver, stocks, pensions, and retirement accounts. Business zakat is covered in session four. We cover zakat on business inventory, accounts receivable, and cryptocurrency. If you own a business, you need to understand both individual and business zakat because they are calculated separately. The course will give you the knowledge to calculate both. If you do not own a business, you can skip session four or watch it for general knowledge. It is up to you.
Yes we offer a family discount. If you register three or more family members living in the same household, you receive a 20 percent discount on the total fee. To claim the family discount, register each family member individually then email us with the names. We will refund the 20 percent discount to your payment method. If you register for the course and then decide before the first session that you do not want to take it, we offer a full refund. You must request the refund at least seven days before the first session. After the first session has started, we do not offer refunds because you will have already accessed the first recording. However we do allow you to transfer your registration to another person. If you cannot take the course for any reason, you can transfer your spot to a friend or family member at no cost. You can also defer your registration to the next Ramadan. Contact us to arrange a deferral.
