Halal Certification Preparation
Get your products halal certified. We audit your operations, fix gaps, prepare documentation, and support you through the certification audit.
Get Your Products Halal Certified
Halal certification is a formal recognition that your products meet Islamic dietary and ethical standards. For food products, this means no pork, no alcohol, and no non halal meat. For cosmetics, this means no animal derived ingredients from non halal sources and no alcohol. For pharmaceuticals, this means no gelatin from pork and no alcohol based excipients. For logistics, this means no cross contamination with haram goods during storage or transport.
Halal certification is not just about ingredients. It is about the entire supply chain. Your raw materials must come from halal certified suppliers. Your production facility must maintain separation between halal and non halal lines. Your cleaning procedures must prevent cross contamination. Your storage and transport must be dedicated or properly cleaned. Your documentation must track every batch from source to customer.
Our Halal Certification service prepares you for certification by recognized bodies. We are not a certification body ourselves. We do not issue halal certificates. We are consultants who help you meet the requirements of certification bodies like MUI in Indonesia, JAKIM in Malaysia, ESMA in the UAE, and others. We audit your current operations. We identify gaps. We help you fix them. We help you document everything. We help you apply for certification. We prepare you for the certification audit.
Halal certification opens doors to Muslim markets. Over 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide look for halal certified products. If you export to Indonesia, Malaysia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, or other Muslim majority countries, halal certification is not optional. It is required by law. Even if you only sell locally, halal certification builds trust with Muslim customers. It differentiates you from competitors.
Let us help you get certified.
What's Included
Current Operations Audit
We audit your current operations against the requirements of your target certification body. We review your ingredient sourcing, your production processes, your cleaning procedures, your storage facilities, your transport arrangements, and your documentation. We identify gaps between your current practices and what the certification body requires. We provide a detailed gap analysis report with prioritized recommendations.
Remediation Plan
Based on the gap analysis, we develop a remediation plan. The plan specifies what changes you need to make to your operations to become compliant. It includes timelines and responsible persons for each action item. The plan is practical and realistic. We help you implement the plan. We may need to visit your facility to assist with complex changes.
Documentation Preparation
Halal certification requires extensive documentation. You need to document your ingredient specifications, supplier halal certificates, production process flows, cleaning procedures, storage segregation, transport logs, and traceability systems. We help you prepare all of this documentation. We provide templates. We review your drafts. We ensure everything meets the certification body requirements.
Certification Body Selection
Different certification bodies have different requirements and different levels of recognition. MUI is recognized in Indonesia. JAKIM is recognized in Malaysia. ESMA is recognized in the UAE. Your target export market determines which certification you need. We help you select the right certification body for your export markets. We also consider cost, timeline, and ease of process. We train your staff on halal principles, your specific processes, and what to expect during the audit. Training is customized to each role. Production staff learn about cleaning procedures. Quality staff learn about documentation. Management learns about their responsibilities.
Audit Support
When the certification body comes to audit your facility, we can be there with you. We help you prepare the facility before the auditor arrives. We help you organize documents for easy retrieval. During the audit, we answer technical questions that your staff may not know. We take notes on any findings. After the audit, we help you respond to any non compliances. We stay with you until you receive your certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions
The answer depends on your target export markets. If you export to Indonesia you need MUI certification. MUI stands for Majelis Ulama Indonesia. It is the only halal certification recognized by the Indonesian government. If you export to Malaysia you need JAKIM certification. JAKIM stands for Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia. If you export to the UAE you need ESMA certification. ESMA stands for Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology. If you export to Singapore you need MUIS certification. If you export to Saudi Arabia you need SFDA certification. If you only sell locally in Hong Kong, you can choose any reputable certification body. There is no government mandated body in Hong Kong. We can help you select the right body based on your export markets. Some certification bodies are recognized in multiple countries through mutual recognition agreements. We can explain these agreements to you.
The timeline depends on your current state of compliance and the certification body you choose. For a company that already has good processes and documentation, certification can take two to four months from application to receiving the certificate. For a company that needs significant changes to become compliant, certification can take six to twelve months. The main drivers of timeline are supplier certification, facility modifications, and the certification body audit schedule. Some certification bodies have backlogs and may schedule audits months in advance. We cannot control the certification body timeline but we can help you prepare so that when your audit date arrives you are ready. Our experience shows that companies who work with us get certified faster than those who go alone.
The cost has two components. First is the certification body fees. These vary significantly by body. MUI certification for a small company might cost USD 2,000 to USD 5,000. JAKIM certification might cost USD 3,000 to USD 8,000. ESMA certification might cost USD 4,000 to USD 10,000. These fees include the application fee, audit fee, certificate fee, and annual renewal fee. Second is our consulting fee. Our fee depends on the complexity of your operations. For a simple company with straightforward processes, our fee is typically HKD 15,000 to HKD 30,000. For a complex company with multiple products and international supply chains, our fee is HKD 30,000 to HKD 80,000. We provide a fixed price quote before you engage us. You know exactly what our fee will be. The certification body fees are paid directly to the certification body. We do not mark them up.
Yes halal certification applies to many non food products. Cosmetics and personal care products like soap, shampoo, lotion, and makeup often contain animal derived ingredients or alcohol. These need to be halal certified for Muslim consumers. Pharmaceuticals like capsules, syrups, and topical creams often contain gelatin or alcohol. These need to be halal certified, especially for oral consumption. Logistics companies that transport food need halal certification to assure customers that their trucks and warehouses are not contaminated. Hotels and restaurants need halal certification to serve Muslim guests. Even water bottlers and ice manufacturers may need halal certification if they are supplying to Muslim owned businesses. The principles are the same across all product categories. No pork, no alcohol, no contamination, and full traceability. We have helped clients in all of these industries obtain halal certification.
Halal compliance means your products and processes meet Islamic requirements. You can claim to be halal compliant without formal certification. However your customers may not trust you. They have no proof. Halal certification means an independent third party has verified your compliance. The certification body issues a certificate that you can show to customers. Certification is more credible than self declaration. In some markets like Indonesia and Malaysia, certification is legally required. You cannot claim halal without a certificate from the recognized body. In other markets like Hong Kong, certification is voluntary. However many retailers and distributors require certification before they will stock your products. Certification is an investment in trust. It signals to customers that you take halal seriously.
Yes we can help you distribute halal certified products internationally. Once you have certification, we can connect you with distributors and retailers in target markets. We have relationships with halal product distributors in Malaysia, Indonesia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and other countries. We can help you with export documentation including halal certificates, health certificates, and customs declarations. We can help you navigate import requirements in each country. Some countries require additional approval beyond halal certification. We can advise you on those requirements. Distribution support is a separate service from certification preparation.
